What a fantastic end to the year!
We have been focusing on the book 'Eliot the Midnight Superhero' and have produced some wonderful superhero themed writing because of this.
In maths, we have been comparing addition and subtraction calculations, as well as identifying the properties of some 2D and 3D shapes.
In Science we have been exploring everyday materials and have had fun investigating their properties!
Of course we have been looking forward to Christmas too. We have had a visit to church to learn about the Nativity story and have looked at Advent and why it is celebrated.
Our Christmas cards this year were created using a mono-printing technique that the children really enjoyed! We hope you liked them as much as we enjoyed making them.
We have started this half term by learning about The Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The children have loved hearing about the events and we are sure that they will be able to tell you all about Guy Fawkes and his plan (If they haven't already!)
We have also produced some beautiful chalk firework display pictures and selected describing words to go along with them!
This Autumn in year 1 we will be learning all about our bodies and how to keep ourselves healthy. We will be finding out about our local area and studying the lives of some famous people from history. In art we will be learning about line, colour and printing and we will continue to enjoy music and computing too. While some of our PE lessons will be indoors we hope to get outside for some fun PE sessions too.
Please remember that the Year One P.E day is currently Monday. Please bring your child to school in appropriate clothing.
