Summer 2024
Summer Term 2
'We're Going On A Journey' has been our latest learning theme and the Little Owls have been answering questions such as: What kinds of transport might we find on the sea, in the air and on the roads?
They have been talking about their journeys, special places they have visited and shared holidays photographs with one another.
Together they created a big red London bus and invented their own 'Naughty Bus ' adventures. Aeroplanes, buses, ships and trains were constructed with loose parts in the garden and used to develop role play and story telling.
The Little Owls conducted a paper aeroplane investigation and made planes that flew well across the garden.
Abby from Artscool provided a seaside themed Arts day to complete what has been a year full of fun, creativity and learning!
Summer Term 1
The Little Owls have been getting their hands dirty! Our theme was: Every Living Thing and we started by exploring seeds and noticing that they are not all the same. We wanted to discover how they grow so we planted some in soil, put them on the windowsill and took turns to water them. They grew! We had our own little seedlings which would grow into Sunflowers.
After learning about the lifecycle of a sunflower, we painted beautiful sunflowers just like Van Gogh.
We enjoyed retelling the story of: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and wondered if there were any caterpillars living in the nursery garden. What else was living in the garden? Much fun was had searching, watching and catching wriggly worms and a whole host of minibeasts.
